ALL STUDENTS

As a Catholic Christian community we believe that all people are made in the image and likeness of God.  While dressing neatly shows respect for self and for those with whom we spend our days, it is not necessary to alter or greatly adorn our God-given image.

Students are expected to adhere to uniform regulations and to daily wear the full official uniform.  Uniforms should be neat and clean.  Shirts and blouses should be tucked in neatly; pants and skirts must be worn at waist level and waistbands must be visible.  All uniform articles should be appropriately sized for the student. All uniform articles should be permanently labeled.

The school discourages the wearing of jewelry and accepts no responsibility for any that is lost or broken.  One watch and either one chain with a crucifix or religious medal or a cloth necklace with a scapular are the only items permitted.  Hair should be neat and should not hinder vision; avoid fad haircuts or extreme colors or styles such as streaks of colors.

K – 8 GIRLS

Jumpers (K – 5) or skirts (6 – 8) in the school’s plaid are available only from North Florida Uniforms.  The jumper or skirt should be long enough that the bottom of the hem is at the student’s knee.  Short sleeved or long sleeved plain white blouses will be worn with the jumper.   In grades 6, 7 and 8, the blue oxford cloth shirt with school logo should be worn.

Plain (without lace, designs or emblems) white or forest green above the ankle or knee socks should be worn.  Short, below the ankle or sport socks are not appropriate.  On cold days plain white or plain forest green tights may be worn.  All socks and tights are available from North Florida Uniforms.

Shoes should be dark brown or black leather.  Boots and sandals are not appropriate.  For safety’s sake, open-toed, open-heeled and platform shoes are never appropriate on campus or on school trips.

Students must wear athletic shoes for P. E. class.  Kindergarten students may wear their athletic shoes all day only on the days P.E. is scheduled.  Athletic shoes should be plain (without neon stripes or flashing lights), solid-colored shoes with non-marking white bottoms.

The students may wear the forest green cardigan, v-neck, vest or sweatshirt embroidered with the school logo.  These items are available only from North Florida Uniforms.  In the classroom no other outer garment may be worn.  If the weather is cold enough to require an additional outer garment such as a jacket or coat, a uniform sweater should be worn underneath.  There is no uniform outer jacket; any plain, dark-colored jacket or coat will suffice.  North Florida Uniform does keep in stock a green jacket with a nylon shell and lining; the jacket can have the school logo on it.  Students may wear a plain (without design or logo), dark sweatshirt only during P.E. class in place of the uniform sweater.

Hair clips should be simple; excessive hair ornaments are not appropriate.  Hair bands or ties must be simple and coordinate with the school uniform.  One pair of post earrings (no larger than the earlobe) may be worn on the earlobe.  Other piercings are not allowed, along with make-up, nail polish, lipstick, body glitter, or tattoos (either permanent or temporary).

K – 8 BOYS

Navy blue pants or shorts with an embroidered cross and either white knit (K – 5) or blue oxford cloth (6– 8) shirts embroidered with the school logo are available only from North Florida Uniforms.  Belts must be worn and may be solid black, solid brown or solid navy blue.  A plain white undershirt may be worn under the uniform shirt.

Plain (without design or logo) solid white or navy blue above-the-ankle crew socks must be worn.  Short, below the ankle or sport socks are not appropriate.

Shoes should be dark brown, black or cordovan leather.  Boots and sandals are not appropriate.  Students must wear athletic shoes for P. E. class.  Kindergarten students may wear their athletic shoes all day only on the days P.E. is scheduled. Athletic shoes should be plain (without neon stripes or flashing lights), solid-colored shoes with non-marking white bottoms.

The students may wear the gray cardigan, v-neck, vest or sweatshirt embroidered with the school logo.

Neither body piercings nor tattoos (either temporary or permanent) are allowed.

Hair should be neatly cut so that it is above the eyebrows, ears and shirt collars.

PRE KINDERGARTEN

Students in Pre kindergarten will wear blue shorts with elastic waistbands and forest green t-shirts.  The shorts and shirts will have an applied logo.  On chilly days boys will wear a gray sweater and girls will wear a forest green sweater.  The sweaters will have an embroidered logo.  Sweatshirts are not allowed.  Pre kindergarten students may wear plain (no logo or design) sweatpants on chilly days, but the uniform shorts should be sent with the students on these days due to temperature changes and the heated rooms.

Shorts, shirts and sweaters are available only from North Florida Uniforms.

Students should wear plain (without neon stripes or flashing lights), dark sneakers and white socks.  Sneakers may have either laces or Velcro fasteners.

It is advisable for Pre kindergarten students to have a change of clothes on hand at the school for the occasional spills or accidents that do occur.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORMS

As an integral part of our instructional program, all students are required to participate in Physical Education classes unless a doctor’s note is presented.  Grades in P. E. are based on participation so that not dressing out for P.E. (and therefore not participating) will result in a lower grade.  Sharing of P.E. uniforms is not permitted.

  • To participate in P.E. classes students in grades 1 and higher must be dressed in the P.E. uniform: Holy Family blue gym shorts
  • Holy Family green t-shirt
  • athletic shoes should be plain (without neon stripes or flashing lights), solid-colored shoes.

The P.E. shorts and shirts are available only from North Florida Uniforms.  Students may wear their uniform sweater (gray for boys, green for girls) during P.E. class.  During P.E. class only (not at any other time or place on campus) students may wear a plain (no design or logo), dark sweatshirt and/or sweatpants.
